Description: Overall Rating: Comfort Rating: Performance Rating: Quality Rating: Appearance Rating: Favorite Feature: Versatility- make it a 4x4 convertible and play in the snow or explore a trail in the mountains and enjoy the sunshine! Least Favorite Feature: The lack of power in the 4 cylinder engine, although the newer models are improved in this area. Advice to Buyer: If you are buying a used one, strongly consider the extra dollars for a 6-cyl. engine. Also, remember this is a Jeep, it won't out perform cars on the road, but once off the road even a stock Jeep will give you more fun than any other. Detailed Review: I wanted a 4x4 vehicle and found the Jeep Wrangler provided all the off-road performance I need at a better price than other 4x4 vehicles. Jeeps are always rated poorly in terms of reliability, but I have never had a single days trouble with mine (except for getting stuck in mud). Also, I have four other friends with Jeeps, two Wranglers and two Cherokees, and they haven't had maintenance difficulty either. The ride in a Wrangler is different if one is used to being in a car, but that is to be expected anytime you switch to a 4x4 vehicle. The ride can be bouncy when going over rough or bouncy road, but on the highway it rides much better than I expected. In fact, I take a nine hour ride to Florida twice a year in my Wrangler and do not have any problems with comfortability. The most deciding factor, for me, in purchasing the Wrangler over other 4x4's was its versatility. I opted for a hard top on my Jeep to provide a little more security from thieves and bad weather, but when it's nice outside, you've got a 4x4 convertible that everyone loves to drive around. Also, the modifications one can do to the Wrangler are endless. Customize your Jeep any way it fits you- hardcore off-road or dressed up for around town. Two suggestions when buying pre-1997, air conditioning and a 6-cyl. engine, the newer Wranglers have A/C, a stronger 4-cyl. engine, and a little softer ride for those who think the old model was too bouncy. One last thing, don't drive your Wrangler like a sports car and you will never have to worry about flipping it over. I have larger than average tires on my Wrangler, yet even despite accidentally taking a corner or two too fast, it has never felt unstable or prone to tipping over. Use common sense and have a blast going where ever your Jeep can take you. Vehicle Purchased: 1995 Jeep Wrangler Reviewer Information: Name - Christian Lucas Location - Knoxville, Tennessee |
